Beta
The web, without the clutter.
Wattle Browser blocks ads and trackers, keeps what you do on your computer, and adds a few things other browsers don't: workspaces, split view, sidebar apps and a soft typing sound. It's in beta, and we'd love your help testing it.
Windows 11: coming soon.
What's in it
Blocks ads and trackers
On from the start, with one switch for any site that needs them.
Your data stays with you
History, passwords and settings live on your computer. No accounts, analytics or telemetry.
Workspaces and split view
Keep work and home apart, and put two pages side by side.
Sidebar apps
Keep chat or mail open beside the page you're reading.
A soft typing sound
A quiet keyboard sound as you type, never in password fields. One click turns it off.
Streaming video
Protected video plays, as in Chrome, through Google's Widevine.
Install on Ubuntu
- 1
Install it from Terminal
Open Terminal (press Ctrl+Alt+T), paste this and press Enter. It downloads Wattle and installs it, and asks for your password.
wget -O /tmp/wattle-browser.deb https://wattlebrowser.com/download/linux && sudo apt install /tmp/wattle-browser.deb - 2
Open Wattle Browser
Find it in your apps, like any other.
Downloaded it with the button instead? In Terminal, go to the folder it saved to and run sudo apt install ./wattle-browser_*_amd64.deb.
Updates. Wattle checks for new betas while it's open. When one is ready, a Restart to update button appears, and Ubuntu asks for your password to install it.
Streaming. The first time Wattle opens, it fetches Google's video module. If a streaming site won't play straight away, close Wattle and open it again.
Removing it. Run
sudo apt remove wattle-browser.
